I liked the first book in this series and Red Dawn does not disappoint either. Katia is a "take no prisoners" take charge kind of girl and I like that about her. She has fought hard to survive in the world of pure bloods and is loyal to a fault with those she loves. Life at Crossroads is different this year with lots of new changes yet some things stay the same like her feelings towards Jade and Blaine. To save the life of a friend, Katia and Nik sneak out of school and take off to find the cure that has been stolen from the lab. This quest as it were leads then to travel into some shady parts of New Orleans with Keegan as their guide hoping to find the thief and restore the the cure to save Shaye from dying. I must admit that you have to put your beliefs on hold here as it seems quite unrealistic that two teenagers albeit vampire ones could pull this off when no other adults or vampires with all their resources on the council could ascertain who the real thief was and why the cure was stolen in the first place. Apart from that this story was fast paced and action packed with a touch of PG romance between Nik and Katia finally. More questions than answers so it seems and it sets us up nicely for the next book to be one humdinger of a story. Escapism at its best, I devoured this book quickly and will be waiting for the next.Product details

Katie and Nik join forces with Keegan to track down the Shifter who stole the research to making a cure for the blood disease that is killing Vampires. They have also turned up the existence of the group trying to overthrow the Vampire High Council.
I have truly enjoyed reading this series, and can't wait for the next book to come out. Nik and Katia are a complicated couple, but it is obvious they are meant for each other. Nik is so sweet, and a girl couldn't ask for a better boyfriend. Katia is impulsive and a bit impatient, but it just makes her a better person. I would definitely recommend this series to others.
Red Dawn, continues the story that started with Crossroads Academy. Katia has not only gained strength, but is becoming wiser than her years. She has returned for her second year at Crossroads Academy and things start where they left off. I really enjoyed the second book in this intriging triology by J J Bonds and am looking forward to reading the third book in this series. Although Crossroads Academy and Red Dawn were written for tweeners and young adults, even though I am a "gram", I am hooked on the series. Red Dawn (Crossroads Academy #2)
I give this 2nd book of the Crossroads Academy a 4 1/2 stars. I plot thickens & was well written. The characters continued to grow & new characters are introduced. Through drinking the blood of Jacobs, Katia learns about an Order of the Red Dawn & their agenda. After reading the epilogue be prepared to crave book 3. I can't wait to read it & find out exactly what the Order of the Red Dawn is, how they plan to implement their plan, & how the Elders will deal with their threat.
I have read the first in this series but I am reviewing this book first because I just finished reading it. Lobe the new twist on the vampire world by the way. Every vampire book has what my house calls "rules" the story is a good one and if the there was another book out I would read it as well. I wish the story had a little more romance and action. Also I do not know if I missed it but a little more description when it comes to the characters. Good books paint a picture or movie in your head as the story goes along and I just can not see the characters or what the school looks like. The impression is just not there.
I couldn't wait for this book to be released after crossroads it's not as long but boy was it action packed I love katia she's just the right amount of heroine beautiful,tough,loving to the ones that mean somethiing to her and lets rip at the ones that don't lol very funny I felt this was def a build up to the next book with a great plot to come for katia and the ones she loves also I've uncovered maybe a couple of secrets that alluded me in the first book ahhhh the plot thickens love nik so HAWT!! You can tell he really cares for katia and aldo I just think he's awesome I think the next book will feature alot more of him yay anyway no spoilers here but READ READ READ this book red dawn it's EPIC well done JJ ya did it new baby and all <3
Red Dawn is the sequel to the awesome Crossroads book. In this one, Katia will stop at nothing to help save her friend who has a rare condition. She's going to break all the rules to help her friend. And along the way she's going to have to figure out a few more relationship stuff of her own.
This book was not nearly as good as the first one. Red Dawn had a lot of drama in it that never really seemed to reveal itself, and then when it did we were left with more questions. I was also really frustrated with the way Katia acted in the beginning when it came to the whole Jade issue. I felt like she acted a little immature, and then did a complete 180 and forgave for stuff.. That never made sense to me, and it was frustrating. But Katia did change back into her old self after that, and I was extremely glad. Other then those things, I really did enjoy the book, and I still look forward to reading more in this series.
